Graduate programs at Thai university are mass programs. About 1.5 million students received a graduate or post-graduate degree at Thai universities alone on 2007 (see Quality). It's not a secret that for most of these students the title is more important than the knowledge gained (see also Suntaree Komin: Psychology of the Thai People - Values and Behavioral Patterns, NIDA 1990).

To have a realistic chance for improvement in your career, you'll need to study an international program. Most of these programs are English programs, very few are completely conducted in Chinese (at International Buddhist College and at Ramkhamhaeng University). You can choose from anywhere between studying in a completely Thai environment (with Thai fellows, Thai lecturers, and Thai social hierarchy in class) up to totally international environments (with western university professors in a sometimes European, sometimes US American setting). Make sure you are conscious about your private goals before making the decision for a program. The presumed order of 'name' and 'no-name' universities doesn't work well when it comes to international education. The same applies to cost - the most expensive is not necessarily the best one.

We recommend to look for the best quality program, which might earn you the appreciation of your colleagues and superiors, while the 'best name' program might leave you merely with the appreciation of your neighbor. Verify the information below with your university. We aren't always sure that the university Web sites become updated after any changes. Several universities are not willing to publish any details of their program costs at all, such as tuition fees, entrance requirements, or duration of the programs, as you can see in our tables below. We cannot give you any guarantee on the tuition fees or durations listed below, therefore.

Only very few universities and colleges publish the effective cost of your international graduate studies. Many costs that remain unmentioned, such as tuition fees for non-credit courses and payments for textbooks, since most universities are not interested in price transparency. Before you sign anything, you will want to make sure that you know how much you finally will have to pay. If you want to study an mainstream program, such as an international MBA in an English program, you will want to compare the offers.

International graduate students want to benefit in their jobs and careers not only from the sheet of paper certifying their degree, but also .from the understanding gained in their studies. That needs, however, to study with top professors.

Check the credentials of the lecturers you will work with. If you would like to benefit in your job from your studies, you need lecturers who are state-of-the-art in their field. If the only qualification of a lecturer is a Master or PhD earned 15-20 years ago in this field, think again. In our fast developing sciences, this is hardly a sufficient qualification.
