Bangkok University was officially founded in Bangkok in 1962 as Thai Polytechnic Institute, became Bangkok College in 1965, and university in 1984. Bangkok University is a private, non-profit co-educational institution. BU offers courses both in English and Thai.
Bangkok University consists of 2 campuses: City Campus and Rangsit Campus.
The City Campus is located on a 26 rai plot of land on Rama 4 Road, the heart of Bangkok. The campus is for 3rd and 4th year students, day program of some schools, International College students, graduate and doctorate students, Special Program students, Office of the President, International College, Graduate School, schools, labs, classrooms, seminar rooms, library, computer center, indoor stadium, multi-purpose building housing the students’ union, clubs, and Pom Pom cheerleading team rehearsal space, International College buildings and Bangkok University Gallery, Innovation and Technology Center, Admissions and Information Center, the center of information about admissions of new students and general information about the University for the general public and other agencies.
The Rangsit Campus is located on a 441 rai plot of land. The campus is for undergraduate students, day program and the location of BU Diamond buildings, Surat Osatanugrah Library, Communication Arts Pongtip Osatanugrah Complex, Center for Cinematic and Digital Arts, Tourism Tower, BU Restaurant, BU Café, Siree Buranatanit Sport Center, Southeast Asian Ceramic Museum, an important and complete center for ancient ceramics studies in Southeast Asia, Bangkok University Memorial Hall, Bangkok University Gallery, Thai House, and Bangkok University Press. Additionally, Bangkok University, Rangsit Campus is the first private university in Thailand to have received ISO 14001 environmental certification from Thailand Environment Institute.
BUIC Bangkok University International College offers most international programs.
BUSEM Bangkok University School of Entrepreneurship and Management offers the MME Master of Management in Entrepreneurship program, and is home to the Thai Research Team of Global Entrepreneurship Monitor GEM.
